Week 47

I have next to no time this week to email because we went to the temple. But this past week we were able to add two solid investigators, Lisa and William. Elder Anderson found William on splits the other day and he is super smart. They ended up spending 1 hour and 15 min explaining in depth about the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was sweet. We also heard great words of wisdom from Elder Holland speaking to us on Friday. I will send my favorite notes next Tuesday. Oh and we will be having another General Authority touring our mission this Friday. I'll send notes from that too. #5GeneralAuthorities1week.

I love y'all! I will see you later! Like in a year. 😝

Week 46

Hello there!

I would like to start off by saying this has been a great week and one of the crowning events is defiantly Ainar committing to a BAPTISMAL DATE! It is scheduled for the 23rd of July but will likely be moved forward.

Our other Investigator with a baptism date is kind of meh... He is a great kid but just cannot make it to church. Speaking of church, Jennie, after 4 months of teaching has finally made it to church! We are hoping this is not a one time thing but we are going to do our best to make sure it is not. Our other investigator who made it to church we added as an investigator just the day before! Her name is Esther and has such a sweet heart, that of a little girl. Esther is going through a really rough time and she reach out to God for help and she got us. Not a bad deal. πŸ˜„ We also were able to re-add a former investigator named Pray Winlin. We had a good long conversation and the spirit was definitely there. I have high hopes for this time around. πŸ˜‡

And last but not least we added Lisa which was a TRUE miracle! Lisa has been searching for a way to get closer to God and conquer her challenges. When we met last night and gave her a blessing I knew that there was something special about Lisa. She has been prepared for a very long time and finally she is primed for the TRUE Church of Jesus Christ! My favorite quote from our meeting with Lisa is from her own mouth and it is, "I just don't know how to be Mormon". Ahhhhh music to my ears.😌

Along with all of that excitement we have been preparing to teach this coming 5th Sunday class and it is on.... You guessed it Missionary Work! We have high hopes for it and I hope it helps the Ward take off! At the same time we are also preparing for Elder Jeffery R Holland to give us some instruction this coming Friday! #2Apostles1Month! We are all so excited!

To finish this all off I will give y'all some of my favorite notes from Stake Conference With Pres. Russel M. Nelson.

Highlights From The Conference:
* Your largest responsibility is to unveil God's love to his children.
* The recent call from our leaders to keep the Sabbath day holy is a God inspired Command.
- Have you responded? How?
- How is the Sabbath day a day set apart?
- How is it the Lord's day?
* Keeping the Sabbath day holy distinguishes the saints
* All of the Members are the true missionaries. (The full time missionaries are just wonderful staff). ;-)
* Why? ~ You are the examples that spark interest.
* If you are holding back YOUR missionary efforts because of fear or doubt. FEAR NOT. If you do the Lord's work with sincere love in your heart you cannot fail, for "Charity Never Faileth"!
* Temple Recommend interviews are Dress rehearsals for final Judgement
* When was the last time you SEARCHED the scriptures?
* You cannot let people around you deprive you of your rights and privileges as a Son or Daughter of God. Lift them up with you.
* Refine and refocus your life.
* Your may not be able to go to the temple every week but you can. Make the times you do go really count. How will you do it?
*  "Self Reliance, salvation can be obtained under no other principal."
* We were Created to act and not to be acted upon.
- Self reliance is the ability to use the resources around you to meet both temporal and spiritual needs
* "...Men are that they might have Joy!" ~How?
* If you would like more Joy in your life do the following:
1. Know what it means to be a child of God
2. Know Jesus Christ *Read the Book of Mormon
3. Listen to the Prophets
4. Learn the word of the Lord
5. STUDY the scriptures regularly
6. Understand the power of a priesthood blessing (Don't be afraid to ask for one, especially Men. You are never to manly to need a blessing of comfort and guidance.)
7. Be a missionary, *Share the Book of Mormon
8. Work in the temple, *Do Family History Work
9. Keep learning
10. Be good citizens. of the community of the church, and your country.
11. When you are having a bad day find someone who is having a worse day and help them!
* If you want to loose all of your joy and destroy yourself, become
involved in Pornography.
- There is no better way to destroy your life.

It has been a great week and I am so glad to be a missionary and
change lives. I hope you all do too!

Week 45

This week has been a cool one! The investigators are moving forward!

We had a really great heart to heart with Ainar and he has such a great desire to be baptized. Next time we come over we will get him with a baptism date!

Max is going down the straight and narrow. We are also working on many others like Robbie and Isaac but next week I will get into more detail on them if and when they start going places.

The highlight of this week was definitely having President Nelson visit our stake for Stake Conference. He gave us such wisdom and edification. I haven't transcribed my notes digitally yet but next week I will send those too. One thing that really spoke out to me was "Men are that they have joy". And I will elaborate more on that next week.

Some fun moments this week include. Story time with the Nielsens. I was able to tell a total of three
stories to the Nielsens the other night before dinner! That was a ball! So fun. And earlier today all of the missionaries in the zone, excluding the sisters, tie dyed t-shirts and a number of other things
and I got to 'sword fight' with their 9 year old boy. Super FUN!

Week 44

This last week we finally had Ainar show up to church! That was a Miracle. We lost have been making leaps and bounds with Jennie Mills, a very slow moving investigator. She is committing to real things! Like going to church. She hasn't followed through yet but we are looking forward to it.
Elder Anderson is GREAT! He is such a great missionary. I love working with him. The area is beginning to blossom. Many great things are ahead. :)

I was able to call home this last Sunday and it was a blast! Everyone in my family is growing up so much! All of the men in my family hold the priesthood and every person is baptized a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! Life is good! I have learned loads! Have a great week!

Kensington the nice part of our area where no one likes to talk to missionaries.

A three story mini high rise! In someone's backyard!

Look closely at this pet supply store can you see the dancing cat?   🎢The hills are alive...🎢

I love Zone 2 in the San Diego Mission!

Week 43

Transfer Week

This is the most crazy week every transfer. Luckily my companion and
I have stayed together! But my Sistrict got all jumbled up. We had two
of the sisters switch places and one of the areas got pink washed (all
new sisters are in the area). So that is kind of crazy but exciting at
the same time!

The area is going pretty good too. Right now we have one investigator
with a baptismal date but he is proving to be pretty flaky. He is
totally down for us to come over and teach him and even play some
b-ball but he just can't seem to make it to church! He is 12 and has
12 year old priorities. Fun first, other things second.

We have quite a few progressing investigators though. Douglas is
moving forward. We taught him about the Sabbath Day, Praying often,
and Studying the Scriptures yesterday and we put up reminders on and
in his phone to help him remember to pray. Ma-oo, our Burmese
Investigator, is awesome. Last time I went over to teach her I
re-explained the restoration of the Gospel in very plain English and she
understood it perfectly! She cannot read the Book of Mormon because
she simply isn't at that level yet. The vocabulary is to complex so
next time we visit her we are going to read with her word by word so
she can understand. I love teaching her! James Sudi, our other
immigrant Investigator, is doing great too! He understands that the
Book of Mormon is very precious and needs to be shared! How awesome is
that!

And last but not least there is Alvin. Alvin moved from Guatemala
recently and is pretty open to what we have to say. We found him by
offering him some help on his car and having friendly conversation. If
you show someone that you genuinely care you are sure to soften
hearts. :-D

Some of the highlights for me this week include my very first Jackfruit
shake. And I found out that my companion's family is moving into my
home Ward in Surprise AZ!!! CRAZY! So look out for the Andersons moving into Copper Canyon at the beginning of June. It has been a great week!
