Week 42

The weather is awesome here. I will send some scenery in the next email. But to answer some of Mom's questions I do have a Car. It is a 2016 Corolla. It is real nice. We are in the most ghetto area in the mission so the pictures aren't all that pretty. And I am a district leader over the Battalion sisters. It is a blast! I love the sisters so much. The other week they started asking me for advice with how to handle some investigators and I made me feel like I am doing this district leader thing right. :-)

The Investigators are doing well too! Ainar was still recovering from his wisdom teeth this past week so we haven't met with him but he told us he will be at the BoM study class we set up for this Wednesday! Max
is doing great! He knows the BoM is true he wants to come to church!

Douglas is doing great too! He likes what we have to say because we tell him more than the basics. He said last time we meet that he is willing to keep the commandments if the blessings really do come and WE know they will! Then there is James. He is from Southern Africa and speaks Swahili! We are getting him a Swahili Book of Mormon to him on
Friday too! He is great and is very willing to learn!

We have a lot more new investigators than last week. Last week we started teaching; Ma-oo, Emmanuel, Minda, Ray and Ricky. Ma-oo is Burmese and likes that we come and talk about Jesus. There is a bit of
a Language barrier but we are gonna keep trying! Emmanuel is from Uganda and is in High school right now. He actually cannot read but we downloaded the audio on his phone and he said he would listen to it.
Minda is a feisty Hispanic woman and lives with Ray and Ricky. She is a former investigator that had the former issue of getting to church. But we are working with her on fixing that. Ricky and Ray are twin brothers and are both trying to get back up on their feet. All three of them are super willing to work with us!

And now for the Resent Converts. Michael is doing good. He is going through a lot so keep him in your prayers. He could use the comfort and support. Joseph is doing great! We will see him next at our BoM study class tomorrow. Jennifer has been sick lately but is still choosing the right! And Fernando is fantastic! He is so missionary minded!

This Last Saturday was crazy! We had a member out with us all day! And we added and contacted so many people! It was amazing!

That was my week!
Love you all!

Week 41

This week has been loads of fun!

Ainar is moving forward but he won't stinking come to church! Last week it was his car, this week was his wisdom teeth... uhhhhg! Ron our Cambodian investigator was dropped this week until Cambodian New Year is over. (All of Southeast Asia is having a New Year celebration every week this month.) That was really sad, but hey, it is just a see you later not a good bye so we will take it!

Max, our Lao investigator is also stuck in the New Year thing but he at least finds time to meet with us. But he still won't come to church....

On a lighter note we started teaching Douglas. Douglas really likes meeting with us! He is going to start coming to church soon. We also started teaching James. He just immigrated to the USA from the Congo. He is supper cool and even though he is doing some serious job hunting he still finds time to meet with us!

Tomorrow we are planning to stop teaching Jennie and start doing service for her. A good trade off considering the teaching isn't really doing anything but she will still hear us out.

Michael was baptized in January is having some major health stuff going on with his heart and could really use the prayers. But he is still going strong. He is one of he most dedicated converts I know.

Joseph, the other man we baptized on January is getting back on the horse. He will be getting the Aaronic priesthood this Sunday and should be passing the sacrament the Sunday after. We are having Book of Mormon studies with him twice a week now. It is great!

On a fun note, we got fed up with all of the New Year business that is blocking out our Jesus time with people, so when we were invited to Burmese New Year this Saturday we jumped for it. We planned on looking for some of the Burmese investigators we were teaching and ask them to meet with us again but instead we got sprayed with a lot of water.... Just a heads up if you ever plan on going to Burmese New Year plan on getting soaked! I figured I would give you all the heads up I never had.

That was my week though. As I go on week to week, I find myself growing more and more through Christ.

I love you!

Week 40

This week has been loads of great fun! I have been able to apply a lot of the things I learned during General Conference. Some of those things are.
- As you act on the love you have you will gain courage, confidence, and more genuine love and caring
- As you surround your children by people who seek to act on spiritual promptings they will learn how to do the same
- The world distracts us from our true identity as a child of God.
•. (Ponder Question: ?What are your privileges as a Child of God?)
- Forgiveness allows us to be spiritually healed
•. The Atonement helps us forgive so we can truly be free
- (Ponder Question: ?Do you have to be compelled to be humble?)
•. The way we remain humble, so we do not have to be compelled to do so, is through frequent, dedicated and fervent prayer.
- Ordinances invite spiritual purpose and power in his life
- Relationships are not like iPhones. You cannot and should not throw them out when you grow tired of them or they seem worn.
- Most people are as happy as they make themselves up to be
- You must remain faithful in keeping Gospel Study and other Gospel events and routines in your days and weeks PRIORITY over all else.
- The most important work is done within the walls of your own home
- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is more than just a nice social club or some good ideas, it is TRUE!
- Stopping righteous habits makes us vulnerable to the world
•. (Lehi's dream reference) Those who tasted of the fruit fell away unto forbidden paths after being mocked and scorned. Those who continued to partake of the fruit remained in it's Glory!
- We act on our faith through obedience
•. Through obedience we find out what we are truly made of
      •. Obedience sets us free
- The Holy Ghost has promptings ready for YOU!
•. What must you do to to better recognize and receive these promptings?
- What do we do to maintain the wonderful feeling we have while listening to General Conference?
•. Review and apply what you learn.
•. You will be blessed for your dissire to do good
•. If we keep trying, tomorrow and ever other day after that will be magnificent

This week I have been focusing a lot on the boldened notes I took, "Most people are as happy as they make themselves up to be". This week has been a little rough with rejection and none of our investigators coming to church it was heart-breaking but as my mind became close to being discouraged I though of that note and remembered that I can be as happy as I make myself up to be. I have been jovial all week! My companion even said during Zone meeting, "He is always happy! It's weird. We will be dropping an investigator or an appointment will fall through and he is still smiling!" I am glad that I am putting off that kind of vibe.
I know that life gets hard for all of us but when we are down in the dumps I know that with some help from Jesus Christ and those around us we can go through anything with a smile at the end of the day.
I hope you find something in this post that touches your heart and inspires you to do more.
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Week 39

This week has been a fun one for me. The sisters in my district gave us a fake referral with the phone number to "The Tequila Factory". Right before bed too. We have some creative sisters in my district.

I am District leader of a Sistrict, a district that is all sisters but myself and my companion, by the way. They are all visitor center sisters so they have weird schedules and stuff but they are both super dedicated companionships.

We got Ainar, Ron, and and new kid named Alex with baptism dates towards the end of the month! It is great and they all tuned into General Conference on Sunday! #5Investigatorsatchurch! Alex is awesome. He is a 12 year old that has looked into the church on and off for the last 2 years and is finally dedicated himself to a date! His mom is supporting too. Which is a nice plus. We are hoping to get his mom involved as well and his cousin Brandon (they joined him for General Conference.

I love you!
